Vanessa Feltz isn’t surprised by the Strictly Come Dancing curse as she admits she fell deeply in love with her dance partner James Jordan.

The 60-year-old TalkTV host, who appeared on the beloved BBC flagship show in 2013 and was the second celebrity to be eliminated from the competition, shared insight into the intimacy of the series.

Her remarks come after reports that last year’s Strictly winner Rose Ayling-Ellis has split from her boyfriend Samuel Arnold.

‘When I took part in Strictly, I didn’t think the curse applied to me,’ Vanessa confessed.

‘I was 51, had been with my partner Ben Ofoedu for about seven years and was amply satisfied at home.

‘I didn’t think my professional dance partner would fancy me — or that I could possibly fancy them. But for about three or four days, I was deeply in love with James.’

Vanessa revealed that she was ‘absolutely dazzled’ by James and that her heart ‘palpitated by the sight of him’.

But she said that she didn’t for a moment actually think that Jordan would leave his wife Ola or that she would break-up with Ben and understood that she was living in a fantasy.

Vanessa and Ben first got together in 2006, while Jordan and Ola married in 2003 and share a two-year-old daughter, Ella.

Shedding light on what she believes causes the curse, she explained: ‘It’s not that you fall in love with your partner on Strictly, or that you don’t love your own partner at home, it’s that Strictly is like a catapult that turns you into a different person.’

‘You’re suddenly this big star that you weren’t before,’ she added in her column to The Sun.

‘And then you look at your partner and whatever you had in common before, you haven’t got in common now.’

Vanessa believes that the Strictly curse will continue for years due to the intense publicity, glamour and music of the show.

‘It’s like the ultimate holiday romance, ramped up to the power of a billion,’ she concluded.

Strictly Come Dancing launches on Saturday, September 17, on BBC One.
