Manchester United will turn off the music inside Old Trafford 15 minutes before kick-off against Barcelona tonight, after a special request from supporters.

The Red Devils take on the Catalans at the Theatre of Dreams in the second leg of last week’s pulsating 2-2 draw at the Camp Nou.

The reverse fixture was Barcelona’s biggest attendance of the season and though United cannot quite fit 91,000 into Old Trafford, over 113,000 fans attempted to buy just 7,000 released tickets in December.

Erik ten Hag gestured towards the Stretford End after Sunday’s 3-0 win against Leicester and he revealed to reporters afterwards that it was a call to arms for fans to help the side get over the line against Barcelona.

And it appears that supporters have heeded his call, with fans asking the club to stop music being played over the tannoy system at 7:45pm tonight.

The club have agreed to the request, meaning fans can generate their own atmosphere without being drowned out by loud music.

This is likely to attract supporters to their seats earlier than they normally would, and will in turn create a better atmosphere.

United will welcome Harry Maguire and Antony back to the matchday squad, though the fixture has come too early for Anthony Martial.
