M32 in Bristol: Lorry overturns spilling sand and stones | UK | News

Drivers are facing delays on the M32 this morning after an overturned lorry caused debris and fuel spillage across the carriageway.

The southbound carriageway near Hambrook is shut due to the incident with traffic piling up.

The vehicle shed its load of stones and sand across the carriageway, resulting in a fuel spillage.

According to National Highways, a closure is in place between M4 J19 and J1.

Pictures show emergency services at the scene as they deal with the incident. A diversion has been set up for motorists looking to use the road.

Avon and Somerset Police confirmed the incident in a statement. A spokesperson said: “The M32 is currently shut southbound between the M4 junction and J1 (Hambrook) after a lorry overturned at about 3.10am this morning (Thursday 17 August). There were no reported injuries.”

The latest log from Inrix reports: “M32 Southbound closed, queueing traffic due to overturned lorry, recovery work and fuel spillage from M4 J19 (Bristol) to J1 A4174 (Hambrook). Congestion to M4 J20 (Almondsbury Interchange) on the northbound carriageway as drivers divert away from the closure.

“Cameras show that recovery and clean up of the road is currently in progress. Lane three (of three) on the northbound carriageway remains closed.”
