Lionel Messi has decided to join Inter Miami, according to the BBC.

The 35 year-old is set to move to the American side after opting against extending his contract with PSG after two loveless years in the French capital.

Messi has seemingly turned down the lucrative advances of Saudi Arabia’s Al-Hilal and a possible romantic reunion with Barcelona has failed to materialise.

But what exactly do we know about Messi’s new club?

Here is everything you need to know about Inter Miami with the seven time Ballon d’Or winner set to head stateside.

Who owns Inter Miami?

England legend David Beckham co-owns the club with American brothers Jorge and Jose Mas.

Jorge is a billionaire businessman and is the chairman and largest shareholder of MasTec, a Miami-based construction and engineering company.

When Beckham joined La Galaxy in 2007, the deal allowed him to purchase a discounted MLS franchise to set up his own team.

The club were founded by the ownership group in January 2018 but only started playing in 2020.

The team’s full name is Club Internacional de Fútbol Miami and they play their home matches at their 18,000 capacity DRV PNK Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Who is the manager of Inter Miami?

Javier Morales is currently the interim head coach of Inter Miami.

The Argentine was appointed in June 2023 following the sacking of the previous manager Phil Neville.

Beckham dismissed his former England and Manchester United teammate with the club rock bottom of the table following four successive defeats.

Neville was appointed in 2021 after leaving his post with the England women’s team.
