Gardaí investigate after woman’s body found at house in Co Tipperary

An inquiry is under way after the body of a woman in her 80s was found at a house in Co Tipperary.

Gardai in Nenagh said they are investigating all the circumstances surrounding the death of the pensioner, whose body was discovered at St Joseph’s Park on Sunday afternoon.

Gardaí and emergency services were called to the scene shortly after midday.

The woman, in her 80s, was pronounced dead at the scene, and her body was taken to University Hospital Limerick.

The scene was preserved for technical examination by the Garda National Technical Bureau and the coroner was notified of the death.

A post-mortem examination was completed by the State pathologist on Monday.

Gardaí said the results of the post-mortem examination are not being released for operational reasons.

A senior investigating officer has been appointed to lead the inquiry, and an incident room has been established at Nenagh Garda Station.

A Garda family liaison officer has been assigned to support relatives of the deceased woman.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward, particularly those who were in the St Joseph’s Park area of Nenagh between 8pm on Saturday and midday on Sunday.

People with video recordings, including motorists with dashcams, from the area within the timeframe have also been asked to provide footage to investigating gardaí.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Nenagh Garda Station on 067 50450, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.
