The Jay Brown actor posted a collection of behind the scenes pics which clearly showed their close bond, and left a heartfelt message in the caption.
‘Tonight (May 31) we said goodbye to Lola and what a journey myself and Danielle Harold have been on!’ He wrote.
‘Working together for all these years has been the best! She really is a special one!
‘Danielle has worked so incredibly hard delivering Lola’s cancer storyline and deserves all her praise as does the whole cast and team for their efforts!
‘Gonna miss ya at work kid love ya.’
Among the photos was a picture of Jamie and Danielle in Margate, where they filmed a special two hander episode ahead of Lola’s death.
Another image showed a framed picture of Jay and Lola’s wedding day, while a third showed the pair cuddled up on Lola’s bed alongside Billy Mitchell actor Perry Fenwick.
The comments were filled with loving messages from EastEnders co-stars past and present, with Sonia Fowler icon Natalie Cassidy posting a series of love heart emojis.
Balvinder Sopal, who plays Suki Panesar, called Danielle’s performance ‘Heart achingly beautiful’, while Jean Slater actress Gillian Wright said: ‘Truly remarkable episodes this week & tonight’s especially! Pitch perfect acting from everyone, wonderful vision from director Karl Nielson & Lauren Klees writing.. the whole team! I’m in awe! Stunning! You deserve every award going! Bravo!’
Lucy Benjamin, who was recently confirmed to be returning to her role as Lisa Fowler, said: ‘Proud of you! Class performance my darling.’
Fans also took the time to comment, with one saying: ‘You both did such an incredible job Lola will be sadly missed and Danielle of course.’
‘Sobbing again,’ another added, while a third said, ‘I love you Jay and Lola’.
The storyline has been well received by fans, who have praised Danielle for her performance throughout.
Having now left EastEnders, Danielle is currently working on her next project: Celebrity Hunted for Stand Up to Cancer.
She has teamed up with Coronation Street star Kimberly Hart Simpson to try and evade capture from the hunters while raising money for charity.
