Honey Mitchell (Emma Barton) shocked us all in recent EastEnders scenes as she took on Nish and Suki Panesar (Navin Chowdhry and Balvinder Sopal) in order to save jailed husband Billy Mitchell (Perry Fenwick).

Billy landed himself in custody after smashing the window of the Minute Mart in a grief-fuelled rage, and was left terrified that he may not be able to see granddaughter Lola Pearce (Danielle Harold) before her death.

Lola is currently dying from a brain tumour, with her nurse revealing to husband Jay Brown (Jamie Borthwick) that she will likely be unconscious most of the time now.

With Billy still incarcerated, Honey dragged hard man Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) to the police station, where they quizzed local detective Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) on what was going on.

Jack explained that he had no choice but to arrest him for assaulting a police officer, after Billy elbowed him in the nose while being restrained.

While Jack was prepared to let him off with a caution after a night in the cells, he revealed that Nish Panesar had given a witness statement, meaning that the case would be going to court.

This meant that the only way to get Billy out would be to persuade Nish to withdraw his witness statement.

Determined to do whatever they could to allow Billy to see Lola again before she died, Honey and Phil headed over, interrupting Nish’s meeting with a client.

Despite Honey’s pleading, Nish insisted that he needed a crime number for the insurance to pay out on the damage caused to the shop front and refused to withdraw his statement, despite the extreme circumstances of Billy’s situation.

With nowhere left to turn, Honey confronted Suki Panesar, demanding that she tell her husband to withdraw the statement.

When Suki insisted that what Nish does is nothing to do with her, Honey reminded her of the time she had tried to kiss her, and informed her that if she didn’t convince him, then Nish would know all about it.

Desperate to keep her kiss with Honey on the downlow, Suki had a word with Nish, and ultimately managed to persuade him to withdraw the statement by suggesting that targeting the family of a dying woman would affect their businesses.

With Billy safe from prison and out of custody, he was finally able to be with Lola at her bedside, where she found the strength to tell him she loved him, and broke all of our hearts in the process.
