Coronation Street video spoilers for May 29 to June 2: Roy says goodbye | Soaps
Coronation Street lines up a dramatic and unmissable week, with an altered schedule meaning that there are five nights of drama on the cards.
Gemma Winter (Dolly-Rose Campbell) prepares to walk down the aisle to marry love of her life Chesney Brown (Sam Aston) in the dress of her dreams with beloved brother Paul Foreman (Peter Ash) by her side, blissfully unaware of what he’s going through.
Justin Rutherford (Andrew Still), meanwhile, faces the music as his trial kicks off, with Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan) concerned that the stalker is going to get way with his crimes when Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott) fails to show up in court.
Fancy a first look at what’s coming up?
We’ve got not one, not two, but FIVE not-so-little clips to tide you over until our next visit to the cobbles, previewing all of the above events.
The fallout of this week’s developments, as ever, continue into the next, and with so many questions left unanswered, here are some brand new spoiler clips.
Monday May 29
The day of Gemma and Chesney’s wedding arrives and, as everyone gathers in the church, Linda arrives, taking a seat beside Dev, branding his suit ‘distinguished’, much to Bernie’s dismay.
At the bottom of the church, Gemma is all dressed and ready to walk down the aisle, thanking Paul for being there for her. As Girls Aloud’s The Promise sounds in the church, Paul leads Gemma down the aisle, with everyone in attendance left in shock by her extravagant wedding outfit.
But wait, there’s more!
Gemma presses a button in her dress, which proceeds to light up, leaving her loved ones in absolute shock. Paul, meanwhile, fights his MND symptoms, much to Billy’s concern, which piques Gemma’s interest as she reaches the top of the aisle to unite with husband-to-be Chesney.
Tuesday May 28
Ryan enjoys a drink with Carla at the Rovers in his first official outing since being released from hospital, but his attention is soon elsewhere when he realises that Karen, a woman at the other end of the pub, is staring at him.
Carla gives Karen what for, with Daisy intervening, revealing that Karen is Justin’s sister, who apologised to her for what transpired. Carla, however, states Daisy that it’s Ryan who deserves the apology given the ordeal he endured at Justin’s hands.
Daniel is quick to defend Daisy, reminding everyone present that she is also a victim. Karen’s interest is piqued by references to Daisy’s past, specifically how she schemed to split Ryan from Alya.
Wednesday May 31
Evelyn pops into the cafe to speak to Roy, but when she stumbles upon an emotional Nina, she realises that the cafe owner has finally told his niece about his operation.
Roy is pleased to see Evelyn as he has a request for her, explaining that he’s written a series of letters to his loved ones, which he’d like her to distribute if he doesn’t make it through the procedure.
Evelyn is reluctant, but ultimately takes the letters on the condition that they’re returned to him the moment he wakes up from his surgery.
Thursday June 1
Daniel pops over to speak to Ryan, urging him to show up to court and face Justin one last time so that they can ensure that he doesn’t get away with what he did.
Carla isn’t pleased with the teacher for putting pressure on struggling Ryan, ordering him out of the flat, but it’s clear that his words have left Ryan with food for thought.
Will Ryan turn up to court to make sure Justin pays for his crimes?
Friday June 2
Justin takes to the stand as his trial gets underway, with the stalker and acid attacker telling a completely fictionalised version of events, while a heartbroken Ryan sits in the gallery, watching on.
Daisy turns to Ryan, urging him to speak out, but Ryan instead walks out, unable to listen to any more of Justin’s lies. His departure leaves Daisy stunned, as she wrestles with the possibility that Justin might actually get away with what he’s done and walk free.
But will this prove to be the case?
Coronation Street airs these scenes between Monday, May 29 and Friday, June 2 on ITV1 and ITVX.
